Gadkie lebedi [Ugly Swans]

In one ‘unnamed European country,’ in a provincial town where it rains endlessly and gloomy, indifferent people live, the popular writer Victor Banev observes the mysterious forces that are gradually changing the local atmosphere and imperceptibly influencing the moral character of the townspeople. Intellectual mutants called midges, whom the government tries to keep under control, raise the city's children into child prodigies. In the end, it is the children who pass judgment on the deceitful world of adults by leaving the city.
