With his novel 'Picnic on Ice' about the Kiev adventures of the writer Victor and the penguin Misha, Ukrainian writer Andrey Kurkov conquered world literature. He managed to find a good proportion of a mixture of irony, black humor, elements of surrealism and modern reality.
