He won the State Prize for Literature for his short story collection Želary, and a highly successful film was made based on Joz Hanula's novella, which was nominated for an Oscar. But who is Kveta Legátová (real name Vera Hofmanová)? What were her fates before she became famous? What is he experiencing and thinking about today? For more than a year, Dora Kaprálová, a journalist several generations younger, visited Kveta Legátová to talk to her, and together they recorded dozens of hours of engaging narration about the author's childhood, the war, teaching camps in Wallachia, literature, and also the animals that accompany her throughout her life.
