The monograph is devoted to folklore and literary archetypes in the poetics of N. V. Gogol. For the first time in Gogol studies, the role of archetypes of folk ritual culture in the poetics of the writer is comprehensively studied, folklore archetypes in the late works of N. V. Gogol are systematically considered, the issue of the methods and techniques for implementing biblical and medieval literary archetypes in the structure of Gogol's texts is resolved in a new way, the principles of interaction between verbal and pictorial discourses in N. V. Gogol's ekphrasis are established, new aspects of studying the problem of the Dante archetype in the writer's work are revealed.
