The book traces in detail the history of the merchant class of six towns located in the Yenisei river basin, included in 1822 in the Yenisei province. In the author examines the number and social composition, commercial and economic activities, the way of life of the merchant class. All this is considered with the involvement of a large number of sources, mainly archival materials. Many of them are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. It is difficult to overestimate the value of the nominal bibliographic index of the Yenisei merchants, which concludes the monograph. A lot of modern Russian families will find here the names of their ancestors.
