The novel by the Russian avant-garde writer Ilya Zdanevich (Iliazda), which tells of events in a mountainous country surrounded by a vile Empire, was first published in Paris in 1930. The new edition of this novel-metaphor about the death of Russian futurism is supplemented with illustrations by the artist and poet-transfurist B. Konstrictor, as well as several appendices: the author's correspondence regarding the refusal to publish the novel in the USSR, reviews by B. Poplavsky and D. Svyatopolk-Mirsky, lists of people who received copies of the first edition as gifts. The texts have been verified against the original sources and provided with detailed commentary.
